Special Easter Week Schedule

Good Friday Service: Friday, April 2, 2010 at 6:00PM. Childcare provided for birth-3 year olds. Worship, reflection on the cross, and the observance of the Lord’s Supper.

Easter Sunday: Morning worship services will be at the regular times (8:30 worship, 9:45 GroupLife. and 11:00 worship). No Sunday evening activities.

No Green Street on Easter Sunday. Please join us in the worship center at either the 8:30 or 11:00 worship service as we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Easter Egg Hunt

Preschool – 2nd Grade Easter Egg Hunt
April 3, 2010 in the FLC from 10:30-12:30
We will make crafts, dye Easter Eggs, make Resurrection Cookies,
eat lunch, and hunt for Eater Eggs. This is a family event so everyone come
out as we Celebrate Jesus’ Resurrection.

Kingdom Of The Son Summer Day Camp for k5-2nd Graders

Take a walk on the wild side at the Kingdom of the Son Summer Day Camp! During this spectacular prayer safari, kids will journey into the Serengeti and discover exotic animals, create crafts, play exciting games, sing songs, and enjoy safari activities. And while they are having safari fun, they’ll also learn to talk to God as they explore the Lord’s Prayer, and go on an expedition into the pages of God’s Word. Sign your k5-2nd grades up today for this fun day camp. We will also take a side trip to Georgia’s Pine Mountain Wild Animal Safari. Day Camp will be here at the church on June 23-25, from 9-4, and will cost $50. The cost includes snacks, crafts, activities, Pine Mountain, and all lunches.

Married Life Live Rehearsal

All members of the MML band, and all vocalists are required to attend a special rehearsal this Sunday (3/28) at 4:00 to prepare for the upcoming Married Life Live event on April 9. For more information, contact Bill Lee.

March 7 – Senior Adult Sunday

The fine Senior Adults of TBC will lead the evening worship this Sunday. The evening will be filled with testimonies, solos, and the Senior Adult Choir will present, “O’ For A Thousand Tongues To Sing.” A church-wide fellowship will follow. Everyone is asked to bring a “finger food” and/or dessert. For more information please contact Bill Lee.

Guatemala Mission Trip

The deadline for signing up to be part of the mission trip to Guatemala June 17-24, 2010 is March 14. Please submit your paperwork and a $100 deposit. For more information please contact Doug Chappelle.

Guatemala Mission Trip Meeting

“Strength In…” Men’s Conference

Friday and Saturday (February 26-27, 2010) our men have a unique opportunity to attend the “Strength In…” Men’s Conference hosted by East Memorial Baptist Church in Prattville, AL. June 17-24. 2010. These are the dates for our mission trip to Guatemala. There are ten spaces (nine besides me) available on the trip, so if you plan to go I need to know ASAP. Here are a few details concerning the trip:

1. We will fly out of Atlanta, GA and land in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
2. We will be joining the good folks at Friendship Baptist Church in Grand Bay, AL. They own and operate the mission house we will stay in in Chimaltenango.
3. The ministry activities will include building tin houses, giving away clothing and food, and visiting the orphanage.
4. The trip is open to any adult with a valid passport and a heart for serving the Lord.
5. The cost of the trip will be about $900. A $100 deposit secures your place on the trip.

There will be a “Guatemala Interest” meeting on Sunday night 2/21 after the evening service. Anyone interested needs to plan on attending that meeting. If you have questions please feel free to call, or drop me a line.

Married? Been a while since you’ve had a good “date night?” How about a night filled with tasty desserts, a live band, engaging activities, awesome entertainment, and incredible inspiration? I know… those kinds of evenings are few and far between. Restaurants are too expensive, local shows are too hard to get tickets for, and good baby-sitters are next to impossible. I guess it will be another Friday night of leftovers and reruns on television.

Or… you and your spouse could sign up for Marrie Life Live at Thelma Baptist Church and have all the above mentioned things absolutely free… with childcare provided! That’s right, Married Life Live, an incredible date-night event for you and your spouse, will be April 9, from 7-9PM in the Family Life Center. Listen to great live music, watch hilarious video clips, enjoy pointed lived drama, and eat delicious desserts.

In addition, you will enjoy the ministry of our special guests, John and Lori Gilbert, from Nothing Hidden Ministries in Mobile, AL, AND the inspirational words of Randy Overstreet, from Birmingham, AL.

Did I mention all this is free? Well, it doesn’t cost you anything, but you do need to make a reservation to attend the event AND enroll your child(ren) in our childcare for the night. It’s easy, though. Simply call our office (334-567-3665) or email Alice to make a reservation.

At TBC, we are going to take advantage of the occasion and spread the love of Jesus Christ around our community. The name of the event is simple: Thelma Baptist Church Loves Elmore County. Here’s how it works… everyone meets at 4PM in the Family Life Center. We will organize teams of three, get assignments, prayer, and head out into the community. There is something for everyone to do… regardless of your level of confidence. Some teams will make specific visits, some will canvas neighborhoods, some will remain at the church and pray for those who are out. It’s all outreach, and it all matters!
